Bush’s Mission to Jordan
Surely you joke. Do you expect us to believe that our vice president, George Bush, and his staff are the buffoons you characterized them as being in your front-page article (Aug. 2), “Bush Staff’s Diplomatic Gaffes Amaze Jordanians”?
I believe you have been duped by any one of the following ruses:
1--Charles P. Wallace, The Times staff writer, is the pseudonym of Art Buchwald. (We all know the latter’s leanings.)
2--Prankster Dick Tuck is alive and well and still having his diabolical fun with the Republicans.
3--It’s a Machiavellian plot by inner circles in the State Department to preserve the integrity of George P. Shultz’s Mideast policy.
4--KGB disinformation: only the Soviets could conceive of such a crude picture of a non-political mission.
