Sudan and Libya have signed an agreement for the Khartoum government to buy Libyan oil with money withheld from Sudanese workers in Libya, Sudanese Prime Minister Sadek Mahdi said after a short visit to Tripoli. Mahdi, who met with Libyan leader Moammar Kadafi, told reporters at Khartoum airport that his government will reimburse the migrants in Sudanese pounds. He gave no further details. Last year, Libya expelled thousands of Arab workers or blocked their remittances, saying it was reducing dependence on foreign labor because of adverse economic conditions.
