About 2,500 militant Irish nationalists accompanied by a score of American supporters marched through Belfast under tight security after two nights of widespread riots in Northern Ireland. The march by backers of the outlawed Irish Republican Army was a part of weekend activities marking the 15th anniversary of Britain’s imposition of internment without trial. The practice was abandoned by Britain in 1975, but Irish nationalists still mark the occasion annually with rallies. Among the marchers were 20 to 25 members of the New York-based Irish Northern Aid Committee.
