A U.S. Border Patrol plane crashed during the search for a Cuban inmate still at large a day after 16 prisoners escaped from a federal institution in Florence, Ariz., authorities said. Pilot Bruce Weber of Tucson was listed in critical condition at a Phoenix hospital, said Bill Duckham of the Border Patrol’s Tucson office. Weber was the only person in the single-engine Cessna 182. The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the crash.
