Officials of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration said they will launch the $37.3-million NOAA-G weather satellite from Vandenberg Air Force Base on Aug. 25, three days later than originally planned. The scheduled launch was postponed to correct a problem with the liquid oxygen system on the Atlas E rocket. The National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration satellite will carry into polar orbit instruments designed to measure the surface temperature of the Earth, survey particles from the sun, and monitor the Earth’s radiation belt. The data will be relayed to weather stations on the ground to aid in forecasting.
