William W. Boeschenstein, chairman of Owens-Corning Fiberglas, said the board and its outside advisers will “carefully study” the $74-a-share tender offer by Wickes for the building products company’s shares. He urged shareholders “not to take any action with respect to the offer” until the board announces its recommendation. Edmund M. Kaufman, a Wickes director and senior partner of its outside general counsel, noted that anyone who tenders their shares has 20 days in which to withdraw them. In trading Tuesday, Owens-Corning shares rose 12 1/2 cents to $78.25, while Wickes fell 12 1/2 to $5.25.
