A 6-day-old boy, whose twin brother was removed from their mother’s womb to prevent both from dying, was reported in serious but stable condition at Northridge Hospital Medical Center. A hospital spokesman said David Moller is breathing on his own in an oxygen tent and being fed intravenously. His brother, Daniel, died of respiratory failure July 27, two days after he was taken from the womb. Dr. Khalil Tabsh, who performed the operation, said it was necessary because Daniel was pumping blood directly into his brother’s circulatory system, causing his brother to swell abnormally, while Daniel withered. Had the problem continued, he said, both fetuses would have died.
