Wiese Shoots 6-Over-Par 78 in 2nd Round, Trails Junior Classic Leaders by 3 Strokes

NEW ORLEANS — Chris DeBusk of Jacksonville, Fla., who was in fifth place after the first round, shot a 73 Wednesday in the second round to move into a tie for the lead with Scott Frisch of Scottsdale, Ariz., among 15- through 18-year-old boys at the USF&G; Junior Classic.
Frisch, who was tied with three others for the first-round lead at par 72 Tuesday, shot a 75 Wednesday for a two-day total of 147. Frisch is seeking his fourth American Juniors title. Three others trailed DeBusk and Frisch at 148. Kent Wiese of Huntington Beach, who had a share of the lead after shooting a first-round 72, shot a 78 Thursday and is three shots back with a two-day total of 150.
Keith Rick of Boca Raton, Fla., a first-round co-leader in the opening round of the 11- through 15-year-old boys tournament after a 75, shot another 75 Wednesday to take sole possession of the lead at 150. Three others were tied at 151.
Debbie Koyama of Monterey Park shot a second-round 77 to take a one-stroke lead over first-round leader Adele Moore of Dallas in the girls’ 11- through 18-year-old division.
Koyama is a two-time winner on the 1986 American Juniors tour, while Moore has won three times.
The 54-hole tournament, the 13th of 20 stops on the American Juniors tour, concludes today at the 6,820-yard Lakewood Country Club course.
