Maxwell McCrohon, editor-in-chief of United Press International, was promoted to president and chief operating officer of the news agency. Malcolm Hughes, 52, a 30-year veteran of UPI, stepped up from executive editor to editor-in-chief.
McCrohon, 58, takes over the administrative posts formerly held by Luis Nogales, who resigned last month shortly after UPI emerged from bankruptcy proceedings.
