Auspiciante’s Del Mar Victory Is Worth $30
Longshot Auspiciante, ridden by Pat Valenzuela, drove to the lead in the stretch Thursday and scored a two-length victory in the $35,000 feature race for older fillies and mares at Del Mar.
Royal Regatta, ridden by Jack Kaenel, finished second, two lengths in front of Antartica, ridden by Eddie Delahoussaye. The even-money favorite, Folk Art, ridden by Laffit Pincay, finished fourth after leading most of the way.
Auspiciante was timed in 1:35 1/5 for one mile over the turf course.
Sent off at odds of 14-1, Auspiciante paid $30, $10.80 and $6. Royal Regatta returned $9.40 and $7, and Antartica paid $4.20 to show.
Auspiciante, carrying 115 pounds, moved to the outside of the leaders entering the stretch, took the lead midway to the finish and drew clear.
