Transcontinental Interstate Highway to Be Completed

SALT LAKE CITY —
A five-mile section of highway through suburban Salt Lake City will be opened Sunday, completing the nation’s first transcontinental interstate highway, the 2,907-mile Interstate 80, officials said Friday.
The completed route will connect California State Route 480, San Francisco’s Embarcadero Freeway, with Interstate 95 at Teaneck, N.J.
