Michael Andretti broke the track record while earning the pole position for Sunday’s Pocono 500 at Long Pond, Pa.
His fast lap around the 2.5-mile Pocono International Raceway tri-oval was 205.724 m.p.h., which topped the mark of 203.532 set a year ago by Rick Mears, who went on to win the race.
