GM offered rebates on some auto models.

Beginning today and extending through Sept. 24, customers may choose a $750 rebate rather than low-rate financing on the 1986 front-wheel-drive Oldsmobile Delta 88 and the Buick LeSabre models, General Motors said. Those cars are offered at 5.9% annual financing for 30-month contracts, 6.9% for 36-month contracts, 8.9% for 48-month contracts and 9.9% for 60-month contracts, GM said.
