Kuwait unveiled a string of floating radar and missile platforms in the Persian Gulf that it says will protect it against a spillover from the Iran-Iraq War. Kuwait’s official news agency said each of the 1,300-square-yard platforms has a control room manned by 40 people plus helicopter landing pads, artillery, missiles and radio and radar equipment. The mobile posts will watch ships in Kuwaiti waters and also serve as marine supply and salvage centers, the agency said. Iran has accused Kuwait of aiding Iraq in the six-year-old war.
