Henry Africa’s, a San Francisco drinking spot with a relaxed atmosphere featuring ferns and overstuffed couches, served its last drinks after its owners said there were problems renegotiating the lease. Also, they said, they have an interest in another place. Henry Africa’s opened in 1969 and became a popular singles bar. The decor included purported French Foreign Legion artifacts and a life-sized statue of a Canadian Mountie greeting patrons at the door.
