‘Tale of Two Justices’
To compare Chief Justice Bird of California with Chief Justice-nominee Rehnquist side by side for the purpose of conferring their retention in office or higher office is much like comparing Brooke Shields with Marlon Brando.
Bird must go because she should never have been there in the first place while Rehnquist’s record demonstrates meritorious competence and judicial scholarship warranting his promotion to chief justice of the United States.
