France’s controversial Cattenom nuclear power station, expected to be the world’s largest when all four reactors are in service, may not go into operation as planned next month because basements of two reactors had been partially flooded overnight, the electricity utility EDF said. It did not explain the flooding or estimate how long the delay might be. The plant has been opposed by the West German state government of nearby Saarland.
