El Salvador’s Vice President Rodolfo Castillo Claramount announced that the Salvadoran government has no intention of allowing U.S. military trainers to use Salvadoran territory to train rebels trying to overthrow the Nicaraguan government. “In recent days there have been press reports saying the rebels could train here; that is totally false,” Castillo said at a news conference in San Salvador. “President (Jose Napolean) Duarte insists no one has been, or will be, allowed to train armed groups in the country,” Castillo added. The announcement follows a similiar decision last week by Honduras.
