Fishing Report : Largemouth Bass Make Early Showing

Share

Largemouth bass, normally most active during the spring and fall and often lethargic in the heat of summer, are already being caught with consistency in Southland waters, with plastic worms proving most effective.

Butch Brown of Canyon Country took a 13-pound 12-ounce largemouth--the largest reported this week--out of Castaic Lake on a plastic worm, and there were dozens of limits, some with fish weighing from four to six pounds.

Catfish action typically improves in late August and early September, and this year apparently will be no exception. Limits have been reported, some with fish up to 15 pounds.
