A Vermont District Court judge Friday rejected motions to dismiss charges of selling cocaine filed against John A. Zaccaro Jr., the son of former vice presidential candidate Geraldine A. Ferraro.

Judge Francis McCaffrey denied a defense motion for dismissal which had been based on claims Zaccaro, 22, was singled out for prosecution because of his mother’s celebrity status. But McCaffrey ruled that two pieces of evidence found in a police search--including eight grams of cocaine found in Zaccaro’s car--could not be used as evidence.

In February, Zaccaro pleaded innocent to a charge of possession of cocaine with intent to sell.
