County : 100 Households Chosen as Part of U.S. Survey
More than 100 households in Orange County have been selected by the U.S. Department of Commerce for a nationwide study of the private impact of federal programs.
The survey, called the Income and Participation Program, is part of a two-year study of 30,000 households nationwide and is scheduled to begin Tuesday.
According to a spokesman for the Census Bureau, more than 100 homes in Orange County will be visited by study workers.
The questionnaire is composed of several hundred items, seeking information about respondents jobs and earnings, taxes and personal spending, assets, participation in government aid programs and personal history.
Statistics gleaned from results of the 1984 survey found that, nationwide, white householders’ median net worth was $39,140. The figure for Hispanics was $4,190, and blacks, $3,400.
