Standard & Poor’s placed GM on creditwatch.

The debt-rating agency said it placed about $23 billion of General Motors’ senior debt and preferred stock and General Motors Acceptance Corp.’s senior and subordinated debt on its creditwatch list. GMAC commercial paper was not placed on the list, the company said. S&P; cited GM’s declining profitability and market share of the U.S. passenger car market for the action.
