Trimedyne Lists Its Smallest Operating Loss in 4-Year History

Trimedyne Inc. said it lost $144,000 in its fiscal 1986 third quarter--the smallest operating loss yet for the Santa Ana maker of medical lasers. In the year-ago period, the company lost $196,000. Revenues for the period ended June 30 were $1.4 million, up 27% from the $1.1 million for the same period a year ago.

In the first nine months of the fiscal year, losses totaled $549,999, down from $720,000. Sales in the period were $3.9 million, up 30% from the year before.

Trimedyne, a 4-year-old company, is currently testing its Laserprobe, a fiber optic laser system, in non-surgical treatments of leg and heart atherosclerosis.
