MIAMI — A man who apparently planned to hijack an American Airlines flight to Cuba was arrested Wednesday after airport officials discovered two plastic bottles of gasoline in his luggage, officials said.
William Diaz, 26, was arrested at Miami International Airport for trying to smuggle the bottles aboard American Flight 975 to San Juan, Puerto Rico, a Federal Aviation Administration spokesman said. Diaz told authorities he was “unhappy with conditions in the United States and wanted to go to Cuba.”
