Culver City : Condemnation Approved
The Redevelopment Agency on Monday unanimously approved the condemnation of two parcels in downtown Culver City after an attorney for the owner said that the price offered by the agency was too low.
The agency acquired parcels at 9049 Washington Blvd. and 9036 Culver Blvd. from owner Jack K. Meyers for $1.3 million, a price set by agency appraisers. The agency staff reported that it was unable to settle with Meyers after three months of negotiations.
Richard W. Sharpe, Meyers’ attorney, said the fair market value of the property was $1.85 million, and that Meyers had received an outside bid of $1.6 million. Agency members, however, approved the condemnation without comment.
