Weekend Forecast Calls for Cooler Days

Unless there is something crouching beyond the horizon that the National Weather Service hasn’t noticed, the Southern California weekend weather will offer little change from the pattern of the last several days, except to cool down a couple of degrees.

High temperatures in Orange County should remain in the low- to mid-80s, the forecasters say, with persistent low clouds continuing along the coast during night and morning hours and spreading into the valleys.

Temperatures are expected to range from 80 to 85 on Friday and 72 to 82 on Saturday, when high pressure that has been hanging over the Western states may begin to weaken slightly.

The high Thursday in Santa Ana was 82 degrees after an overnight low of 62. Relative humidity ranged from 51% to 96%. The high in Newport Beach was 72 after an overnight low of 62.

As for the recreation areas, there will be light afternoon and evening winds along the Southland coast, with clouds and fog partly clearing in the afternoons. The surf is expected to be 2 to 4 feet from Zuma Beach to Del Mar.

In the San Bernardino and San Gabriel mountains, the days will be sunny and clear with high temperatures at the resorts in the 70s and lows in the 40s.

The Southern California deserts will have local gusty afternoon and evening winds up to 25 m.p.h. Southern deserts will have highs ranging from 106 to 112, and the northern deserts will have maximums from 98 to 108.
