Development in Sylmar

Share

My organization is not “generally pleased” with the Sunset Farms development as reported in your article of June 30.

While we recognize that there are several inherent problems with the property, for example, the corridor for high-tension power lines, several underground petroleum and high-pressure gas lines, the grapevine canyon fault and a water aqueduct, we are not in favor of the proposed project as planned.

We have, in fact, been working with the owners to provide an equestrian staging area for access into the Angeles National Forest and the many trails in the area.

It also should be noted that Citizens for K-Districting is not an equestrian organization. It is an organization of individuals concerned about preserving the rural atmosphere, where possible, in applicable community plans, particularly in the North Valley. In fact, at least half of our members don’t even own horses. There are several organizations in the North Valley which are horse-related (e.g. Equestrian Trails Inc., East Valley Horse Owners Assn.), and we do not speak for them.
