DEAL BREAKER

Mary Tyler Moore is out of a PBS production of Arthur Miller’s “All My Sons,” which would have marked the actress’ first role for public TV, after she learned that Universal has rights to market home video and foreign theatrical versions.

Moore, who’d planned to work for scale but hadn’t signed a contract, would have played the central role of a grieving mother caught in a war-torn family’s moral crisis.

Michael Learned replaced Moore just as the production went into rehearsal in Toronto Wednesday. (Aidan Quinn and James Whitmore co-star; it will open the American Playhouse season Jan. 19.)

“Really, she (Moore) was very generous and lovely about it,” said series executive producer Lindsay Law, “but it (the commercial deal) simply went against her grain.”
