230 Allowed to Return Home After Fleeing Fumes

EAST CHICAGO, Ind. —
Fumes lingering from a ruptured gasoline storage tank dispersed Saturday and health officials said that about 230 residents could return to their homes. The rupture, which occurred Thursday at the Phillips Pipeline Co., a subsidiary of Phillips Petroleum, originally forced 1,200 residents to evacuate their homes.
