The Region : 20 Fired in Drug Probe at Boeing Unit
A Boeing subsidiary fired 20 employees for allegedly using drugs while at work. A spokesman for Hydraulic Units Inc., which makes parts for civilian and military aircraft in Duarte, said 16 hourly employees and four management personnel--including two line supervisors--were discharged after an investigation by security personnel disclosed the alleged violations of the company’s anti-drug policy. Another line worker was fired for alleged misuse of company time. Alex Sweeten, president of United Auto Workers, Local 509, said his union, which represents the hourly employees, will investigate to make sure the firings were “for just cause.”
