Home Builders ‘Adopt’ School Career Centers
- Share via
The Home Builders Council, the educational arm of the Building Industry Assn. of Southern California, has “adopted” the Orange County School District’s Career Counseling Centers.
The action, formalized in ceremonies conducted by Municipal Judge Calvin P. Schmidt, is intended to expand career awareness opportunities for high school students. Also, it is the first countywide adoption by a professional organization, according to Robert Peterson, school district superintendent.
Michael Lasley and Sylvia Michler, who co-chaired the council’s Industry Awareness Committee, called the adoption a way of opening communications between the council and the schools that will vastly increase the group’s ability to educate students about career opportunities in the building industry.
