CALIFORNIA - News from Sept. 8, 1986

Peter Appleton Jones has been named president and chief executive of Trilogy Ltd., the San Jose-based parent company of Elxsi, a computer marketing firm.

Jones, who joined Elxsi as president and chief operating officer in January, also was named a director of Trilogy. He formerly worked for Cray Research and International Business Machines Corp.

Gene M. Amdahl, chairman of Trilogy’s board, said the sale of Trilogy’s technology development operations to Digital Equipment Corp. has improved the company’s financial position and “will allow the company to focus full management attention on Elxsi’s operations.”

Jones replaces Joseph D. Rizzi as chief executive. Rizzi will remain vice chairman of Trilogy’s board of directors.
