Teacher strikes affecting more than 100,000 pupils in seven states began another week, while tentative agreements promised to end walkouts in New Jersey and at some Pennsylvania and Ohio schools. Negotiations broke off over the weekend in Michigan and Washington districts but continued in other districts in those states and in Pennsylvania, Illinois, Massachusetts and Rhode Island. Students were expected to return to classes in Mount Laurel and Bellmawr, N.J., in Newton Falls, Ohio, and in Pennsylvania’s Spring Grove and Midland districts and Athens area.
