The U.S. might not participate in new trade talks.

Special Trade Representative Clayton K. Yeutter said that if certain items, including agriculture and services, are excluded from the agenda of next week’s 93-nation trade conference in Uruguay, the United States may walk away from a proposed new round of world trade talks. The new round of global trade negotiations, under the auspices of the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade, has long been a key element of the Reagan Administration’s trade policy.
