General Automation Gets Orders From Europe Firms
General Automation Inc. said it has received orders from VW Volkswagenwerk AG in West Germany and Fina S.A./N.V. in Belgium for $450,000 worth of Series 900 mini-computers. The computers will be used to enhance the two companies’ computer systems, which are also made by the Anaheim company.
The system for Volkswagen, which will be installed at its Emden, West Germany, assembly plant, will be used in testing automobile electrical systems. Fina’s system will expand the existing network of computers that control truck-loading systems at its seven fuel distribution depots throughout Belgium.
James Tung, vice president of business development for General Automation, said that Volkswagen’s system should be completed by the end of this month and that Fina’s system is scheduled for completion by the end of October.
