TransTechnology Wins 2 New Defense Contracts

Share

The U. S. Defense Department granted TransTechnology of Sherman Oaks two new contracts worth $13.8 million to the company over the next year.

The deals call for a TransTechnology unit in Florida to manufacture cartridges of chaff, tiny strips of metal that are dropped from aircraft to confuse enemy radar, for the Central Chaff Procurement Unit of the Defense Department.

TransTechnology’s Lundy Technical Center in Pompano Beach, Fla., which specializes in making chaff, will handle the job. The center was part of Glen Head, N.Y.-based Lundy Electronics & Systems, which was purchased by TransTechnology last spring.

TransTechnology, an aerospace and defense firm, reported earnings of $6.9 million on sales of $113 million for its fiscal year ended March 31. Company officials say they expect sales for the coming year to nearly double, largely because of the Lundy acquisition.
