The House approved legislation to repeal the 1978 Fuel Use Act that discouraged the burning of oil and natural gas in new electricity plants and large factories. The bill, sent to the Senate on a voice vote, would remove from the statute books the last remaining major steps taken in 1978 to counter high prices for imported fuels and to encourage use of coal.
