Foreclosure proceedings increased slightly.
Homeowners entered foreclosure proceedings at a slightly faster rate during the second quarter than they had during the first three months of the year, the Mortgage Bankers Assn. reported. The trade association said foreclosures were begun on 0.25% of the 9.5 million mortgages surveyed, up from 0.24% in the first quarter. But the association reported that the percentage of homeowners delinquent a month or more in their payments fell to 5.71% of the total from 5.8% in the first quarter.
