ISTANBUL, Turkey — A prosecutor investigating the massacre of 21 Jews in Istanbul’s Neve Shalom Synagogue said Thursday that the two Arab attackers who died during Saturday’s raid have not yet been identifed.
“We still do not know the identity and nationality of the two attackers,” state security court prosecutor Aytekin Gani Ataman said.
He rejected press reports that more than two gunmen took part. “What we are investigating is whether there was anybody helping them before they carried out the attack,” Ataman said.
Extra security measures, including roadblocks and identity checks, remained in force Thursday.
