Fluor Corp. said its Daniel International Corp. unit was awarded a contract for construction management of the Pelham Green Marriott Hotel near Greenville, S.C.

Daniel’s percentage of the $14-million project has not been determined, Fluor said.

Work on the hotel project is under way and completion is expected by late next summer, Fluor said. In addition to 206 rooms, the hotel complex will include about 12,000 square feet of meeting and conference space.

Also last week, Daniel was awarded a contract to provide supplementary design engineering services for E.I DuPont de Nemours’ engineering department in Wilmington, Del.

Mike Burnette, director of corporate communications at Daniel, said that the company will provide engineering assistance primarily, though not exclusively, at DuPont’s various chemical process engineering sites as the need arises. He said that no specific value could be put on the agreement.

“The agreement is to do work DuPont assigns to us. The value is what they put on our plate” for the individual assignments, said Burnette.

He also said that this is the first time the company has been asked by DuPont to provide design engineering. Previously, Daniel International had conducted only construction and maintenance engineering for the chemical giant.
