A man who was booked into County Jail on suspicion of drunk driving Saturday after hitting a parked car three separate times in Laguna Hills was arrested in a second accident less than 24 hours later, a California Highway Patrol officer said Monday.

The man, identified as Roger McAfee Hummer, 39, of Laguna Hills, was injured in the second crash, in which his car and two others were badly damaged, CHP spokesman Ken Daily said. Hummer was being held at Mission Community Hospital in Mission Viejo, where he was treated and was given blood tests that could lead to more drunk-driving charges, Daily said.

In the first incident, Daily said Hummer was trying to get out of a Laguna Hills shopping center parking lot when he sideswiped a parked Cadillac. Arresting CHP Officer Laura Alfaro said he made two more attempts to leave the lot, hitting the Cadillac both times.

That was at 4:35 p.m. Saturday. At 3:25 p.m. Sunday, after arranging his release from jail, Hummer was making a left turn at La Paz Road and Oso Parkway in Aliso Viejo when he collided with two other cars, Daily said.

CHP Officer Tom Sollie said Hummer suffered numerous cuts and bruises. His auto, which had been slightly damaged the day before, “was totaled,” Sollie said.

The women driving the other cars were not hurt.
