Rancho P.V. : New Vans to Boost Service

In order to increase PV Transit service, the City Council this week approved spending Proposition A transportation funds to purchase three new vans and authorized the reconditioning of another van.
Two of the new vans will replace old vans at a cost of $84,200. The old vans have been in operation by the dial-a-ride service since 1983.
The third new van, which will cost $40,000, and the reconditioned van will be added to the transit fleet to increase operating hours.
The purchase of the third van is contingent upon a 50% contribution of Proposition A funds from Palos Verdes Estates, which is a partner in the transit system that serves residents of Rancho Palos Verdes, Palos Verdes Estates, Rolling Hills Estates and unincorporated areas of Los Angeles County on the Palos Verdes Peninsula. Rancho Palos Verdes runs the system.
The cost of reconditioning the old van will be approximately $5,000.
Van numbers are being increased because of PV Transit’s growing popularity, particularly among schoolchildren between the hours of 1:30 to 4 p.m. They typically need rides home from school and to various after-school activities.
