Redondo Beach : Exemptions Amended
The City Council unanimously introduced an ordinance amending the exemptions from the utility users tax.
If adopted next month, the new ordinance will exempt permanently disabled residents from the 5% tax, raise the qualifying age for a senior-citizen exemption from 60 to 62 and increase the limit for low-income exemptions to $12,000 a year for single residents and $15,000 a year for households of two or more.
The changes will not affect people between 60 and 62 who are already receiving the exemption, City Manager Tim Casey said.
