West Hollywood : Fire Station Study Session
The City Council has scheduled a special study session for Oct. 27 to discuss relocation plans for a Los Angeles County fire station that has been housed in a building that has dangerous structural cracks.
The session will begin at 7 p.m. in City Hall, 8611 Santa Monica Blvd.
Earlier this year, Fire Department officials warned that Fire Station 7, on Hancock Street north of Santa Monica Boulevard, had numerous cracks in its walls, an interior wall that could collapse during an earthquake and mortar missing between bricks. The two-story, unreinforced masonry building dates from the 1920s, city officials say.
The council recently voted to appoint an emergency ad hoc committee to address the relocation problem and find a temporary site for the station’s 17 firefighters and their trucks and equipment. The committee will make its recommendations public at the Oct. 27 meeting.
