An argument between two farm workers apparently led to a fatal shooting east of Escondido Wednesday night, San Diego police said.

Witnesses told investigators Antonio Jose Diaz, 40, was shot once in the chest after he objected to another worker’s driving a truck at night without lights, police said. Witnesses told them the shooting occurred during a confrontation between Diaz and the truck driver on Old San Pasqual Road.

Diaz was taken to Palomar Hospital, where he died at 11:30 p.m.

Police are seeking Ramond Reyes in connection with the shooting. Reyes was last seen driving a red 1975 Chevrolet camper, police said.
