A fugitive wanted in the deaths of two people in Indianapolis who vowed he would not be taken alive fled westward through Illinois and into Missouri, stealing more than six cars and trucks and abducting at least five people briefly, police said. The manhunt for Michael W. Jackson, 40, of Indianapolis was centered in Warren County in eastern Missouri after he was seen by police in Wright City, Mo., in a stolen car, and is believed to have shot and slightly wounded an officer, an O’Fallon, Mo., police spokesman said.
