Child’s Fatal Overdose Is Ruled an Accident
An investigation into the death of a 13-month-old Canyon Country girl last week from an overdose of tranquilizers found no evidence of wrongdoing, Los Angeles police reported Tuesday.
Detective Nancy Lyon said it appears that the toddler took Lomotil by accident Friday while her parents were visiting friends in Sylmar. The child, whose name was not disclosed, lapsed into a coma and died that afternoon at Holy Cross Hospital in Mission Hills.
“Children, especially at that age, will put anything into their mouths. There was nothing criminal in this case. It was just a very sad tragedy,” Lyon said.
