Pomona : Fire Services Plan Rejected

Share

A proposal to contract with Los Angeles County for fire services, which could have saved the city as much as $1.8 million, has been rejected by the Pomona City Council.

The plan--which appeared doomed almost as soon as the county’s report was issued two months ago because council members said that the predicted savings were not worth the loss of local control--was formally tabled by the council last week.

A similar proposal to contract with the county for law enforcement services, which could have saved the city $2.5 million, was rejected by the council for similar reasons in April. A third proposal to contract for library services also has been rejected.
