1983--Completes takeover of Canal-Randolph. Spins off stockyards unit and sale of real estate assets, turns $40-million profit.
1984--Wins control of Management Assistance. It is largely liquidated, for profit of $10.5 million.
1985--Gains control of Mohawk Data Sciences. Company results deteriorate for a loss of $4 million to $6 million.
1985--Wins proxy fight for control of Datapoint. Spins off computer service unit to public. Based on value of remaining operations plus service company, turns a paper profit of about $10 million.
1986--Wages takeover battle for Fruehauf. Is outbid by management working with Merrill Lynch, but emerges with profit of about $39 million.
1986--Bids $35 per share, or $1.79 billion, for Lucky Stores. Bid is under consideration by Lucky management.
