NEW YORK — Bob Quinn, a veteran of some 20 years in baseball and a former director of player development and scouting for the Cleveland Indians, was named assistant vice president for baseball operations with the New York Yankees.
The post, which is mainly concerned with scouting and player development, has been vacant since Bobby Murcer left the job after last season to move into the broadcast booth.
Quinn will report to Woody Woodward, the Yankees’ vice president for baseball administration.
